Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries after a Delta flight originating in Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, a company official stated. Several cabin crew members were injured.

Emergency medical services stated they evaluated a total of five people, and transported a trio to the hospital with relatively minor issues that included pain in the back and head pain. Those affected spanned from their 30s to 70s.

This marks the most recent case of commercial jets experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists saying that climate change is a major factor.

The aircraft was carrying nearly 250 travelers and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the representative noted, stating that the plane arrived "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.

Emergency responders indicated they got a call just three minutes prior to the plane landed, and ambulances were waiting on the tarmac.
