Thousands Lost Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, producing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Damage
Residents observed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units activated to manage the widespread outages.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled 598 calls for help across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

Weather Forecast
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with continued storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the region.
