Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved no match even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.
The formerArsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.
The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
